The "Week 1: Orientation" Live Class, is a lecture intended to provide new puppy parents with foundational knowledge and advice around critical new puppy learning: home set-up and management, how puppies learn, toilet training, puppy biting, sensible socialisation, emotional self-regulation, separation struggles and more.

The "Week 1: "Orientation" Live Class is a Zoom session, which is ideally attended before you get your puppy or before you attend your other classes. As this is a lecture format, and not an interactive Zoom class where we practise training games and exercises together, your puppy can take a nap ;-)

I want to provide you with the most flexible and supportive puppy school experience. In order to achieve that, I have designed each of your 5 x Classes of this program to have their own theme. For example, the week 1 Orientation class is all about Puppy Priorities. Week 2 focusses on Come When Called and sensible socialisation games to develop your puppy's confidence and calmness... etc.

Once you have enrolled and booked your spot for your live class (in-person and/or online Zoom), you will receive your confirmation email with your login details to access your program. Once you have logged in to the online learning platform, you will be able to register for each of your 5 x Live Classes individually (in-person and/or online Zoom), with one simple click.

You get maximum flexibility to mix and match your classes based on your preferred date, time and format. This allows you to fit your puppy training classes around your family and work commitments.

Ideally, you would register and attend your Classes in chronological order (Week 1, Week 2, Week 3, Week 4, Week 5). However, if you really need to, you can mix your Class order up (in-person and online Zoom), because each class is designed to have it's own specific topic. Once you have long attended each of your 5 x Classes (in-person and/or online Zoom), and you have successfully completed your final quiz of your Puppy Parenting video course, you will be able to graduate from The Mindful Dog's Puppy Parenting Program, and enjoy all the benefits:
Graduation certificate, lifetime access to your course program and online support services for 1 more year + discount and bonusses!

At Paw Republic in Crows Nest (Sydney's Lower North Shore, NSW Australia ;-). The in-person puppy classes are held in Paw Republic's doggy day care area. All dogs who attend Paw Republic's doggy day care area need to in good health, up-to-date with anti-parasitic treatments and canine vaccinations (C3 for puppies under 16 weeks of age, C5 for all other dogs).

When you enrol for an in-person class, you will receive all the necessary details in your email confirmation (directions, parking, what to bring, what to do if your puppy is sick etc...). You will also find the information regarding COVID-19 conditions of entry here:

In-person classes: your puppy is between 8 and 16 weeks old during their 5-week program.

Interactive Zoom classes: your puppy is between 8 weeks and 24 weeks old during their 5-week program.

Your puppy should have received at minimum their first puppy vaccination (C3 for canine Parvovirus, Adenovirus (Hepatitis) and Distemper).

Upon your first visit, I will request to see a copy of your puppy's up-to-date vaccination certificate. A photo on your phone is fine.

Unfortunately, no. If your puppy has this kind of socialisation struggle, the in-person class environment will be much too overwhelming for your puppy, and potentially make matters worse. Your puppy's coping strategies could potentially disrupt the experience for the other students and their puppies during class, so I will need to send you back home.
Contact me to discuss other options for you and your puppy.

At this time, a limit of 2 persons per registered puppy is in effect. This does mean, e.g. 1 adult and 1 child can attend with their puppy. Bringing a child under 6 years of age can be very challenging for the parent though; as they will need to manage both the child and the puppy... And from my experience, the parent is not able to get much out of the in-person class experience. If it does not work, and is too distruptive for the other students, I will unfortunately need to send you back home.

The attendees per puppy can be different people each week, as long as everyone provides all the names and contact details of their party on arrival.

Everyone who is eligible to be vaccinated against COVID-19 will need to present their vaccination certificate, or a valid medical exemption.

Everyone will also be required to wear a mask indoors.

No exceptions will be made with regards to this capacity limit, nor with regards to any of our COVIDsafe requirments and conditions of entry.

We take COVID-19 very seriously, and choose to go above and beyond to create a safe environment for both people and puppies during our in-person classes.

The Mindful Dog is a registered NSW COVIDsafe business and your instructor, Radica Raeves FDM CPDT-KA, is fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19.

The Mindful Dog also stays up-to-date with health advise from qualified subject matter experts (OzSage)as well as any of the public health orders by local state and federal governments.

You can find's specific COVIDsafe and OzSage's "VaccinesPLUS" health and safety requirements, including conditions of entry for in-person class attendance on our website:

No matter what the reason, if you can't attend an in-person or live Zoom class, simply register for the next available class with that same topic. You get maximum flexibility to select your preferred dates and times for each class, as well as your preferred class format (in-person and/or Zoom).

If you had already registered for a class and need to cancel, you can simple email to let your instructor know. She will cancel your class registration for you.

You can register and post your question for the Weekly Q & A sessions from the top menu, once you are logged into the hub.
I will pop onto Zoom on Mondays at 7:30 pm to answer your posted questions.

I, Radica Raeves FDM CPDT-KA, business owner of The Mindful Dog, reserve the right to suspend all in-person classes, based on current health advice from subject matter experts (OzSage), relevant government health advise, such as NSW government health orders, and my personal assessment of current COVID-19 risk factors.

Therefore, I will occasionally replace all in-person classes affected by relevant operational health and safety advice, with interactive Zoom classes, in order to minimise the spread and lower the risk of infection for my students, myself, my family members and the wider community.

Switching from in-person to online classes is not a cancellation of services.

These alternative interactive Zoom classes will be listed under the "Online Classes" page. You will be notified by your instructor, who will ask you to log in to the hub to register yourself for these alternative interactive Zoom classes (one simple click to "Book your Spot").

Switching to Zoom classes when necessary for health and safety reasons, ensures you can still stay on track with your learning and your puppy's critical developmental milestones. Puppy parenting classes are all about you learning what to do, first and foremost - before you can teach your puppy what to do. Therefore interactive, online Zoom classes are just as valuable as in-person classes, because both class formats can support your learning as well as provide you with coaching feedback while you practice with your puppy.

Your 8 - 16 week old puppy is in their human socialisation period, where the priority should be on learning to make sense of the human environment and human social norms, as well as learning to self-regulate emotional responses, so your puppy can adapt and fit in to your family lifestyle and our wider community, confidently and safely.

90 Days. Why this time limit? Because what we cover in this Puppy Priorities Program is critical learning that is ideally completed before your puppy enters their adolescent stage of development, generally between 4 and 5 months of age. If you wait too long, you miss a critical window of opportunity to shape your puppy's brain and behaviour, which can prevent future problems.

By attending all your classes and successfully completing your video course's final quiz within 90 days, your will receive lifetime access to all the course materials, and your access to our weekly Q&A's and the support community will be extended for 1 year. This will nicely help you navigate the sometimes challenging teenage puppy period.

If we've learnt anything in recent times, it's that "life happens...".
If you were unable to provide your puppy with the necessary training due to misfortune, and you would like me to extend your access to the course, classes and support services: contact me to discuss options.

If however, you have chosen to let things slip... and are therefore much more likely to experience problem behaviours with your puppy, I am not inclined to provide you with extended course access and free support services. Do the work...  Graduate. And you will be rewarded with extended course access and support services for 1 year!

Because I work on a small group class basis. (max. 8 puppies / class),  in order to provide you with more individualised support, refunds will not be granted once you have registered and attended at least one class or Q & A session (in-person or online) OR if you have accessed more than 20% of your video lessons and online course resources.
